Confidence returns to the finance community in 2011

January 5, 2011 Leave a comment

Deloitte’s newly published survey of chief financial officers (undertaken Dec 2010) finds them in confident mood.

The report entitled ‘Confidence rebounds as CFOs plan for growth in 2011’, goes on to say that the top priority for 2011 for CFO’s is expansion and that cost control has dropped down the list of priorities.

Isn’t this exactly what the marketing and sales community has been waiting to hear? This is where we come into our own – expanding our markets and bringing in new products and services. According to the Deloitte report, ‘finance chiefs are upbeat on revenue and profits’.

Which Media Channels do decision makers use as an information resource tool?

December 16, 2010 Leave a comment

In a recent survey we performed, we asked 800 business owners which media channel they use to keep up to date with news that is relevant to their business. The results are:

  • 47% use the internet
  • 32% use National Press
  • 40% use Trade Press
  • 14% use social media
  • 41% use TV

As expected, the internet comes out on top, which is hardly surprising as it is such a rich source of information and you can be very specific with your searches, getting just the right information exactly when you want it. TV has a lot of content on business news and content now so it is not surprising this has come out second.

It’s interesting to see social media making an appearance. Much talked about, media agencies are still monitoring and trying to measure the effect that social media can have on a business. These statistics show that people are now starting to use it as an information resource. If you consider a year ago this figure would have been negligible, it is certainly the fastest growing media channel and therefore should be taken seriously.

64% of Marketing Directors are now integrating social media into their marketing strategy, a sure sign that social media is here to stay!
